The Whole House Battery Savings You’ve Been Waiting For:

SMUD Battery Rebate (My Energy Optimizer® Partner+)

SMUD offers a one-time enrollment incentive of up to $10,000 per household when you enroll a qualifying new home battery system in My Energy Optimizer Partner+ within 90 days of receiving Permission to Operate (PTO). The incentive is based on battery capacity at $500 per kWh minus a 20% holdback and is capped at $10,000 per household.

Income-qualified customers whose battery system, solar system, or related equipment costs are fully covered by the SMUD battery rebate may still participate in the program. However, these customers are not eligible for the one-time enrollment incentive.

Eligible battery manufacturers for the SMUD battery rebate currently include Tesla, Enphase, SolarEdge, Franklin, Sonnen, and Eguana. Participation requires enrollment in SMUD’s Solar & Storage Rate (SSR).

Connected Technology installs battery storage systems throughout Sacramento, Elk Grove, Folsom, Roseville, Citrus Heights, Rancho Cordova, and surrounding SMUD service areas.

Tesla Powerwall battery backup system installation

Ongoing quarterly performance payments are currently available only for Tesla Powerwall systems (up to $110 per quarter for one battery, $220 for two batteries, and $330 for three or more batteries). Other qualifying battery manufacturers may participate in My Energy Optimizer Partner+ and are eligible for the enrollment incentive, subject to current SMUD program requirements and eligibility rules.

What’s the Battery Installation Process?

Connected Technology takes care of everything for you through the Tesla Powerwall installation process!

  1. We verify eligibility and clarify the requirements of the program 
  2. We schedule a site visit
  3. We perform a free evaluation and provide an estimate
  4. Once the estimate is accepted, we collect a deposit
  5. We perform design and permitting services and obtain permission to build from SMUD
  6. We schedule the installation
  7.  We perform the installation and collect payment at completion of installation
  8. We schedule the building department inspection
  9. We obtain permission to operate from SMUD
  10. We complete the paperwork for the SMUD rebate
  11. SMUD sends you, the customer, a check
  12. SMUD provides ongoing credits for the ability to share the power you have stored in your Powerwall3
