SMUD Battery Rebate
The Whole House Battery Savings You've Been Waiting For:
SMUD Battery Rebate (My Energy Optimizer® Partner+)
SMUD now offers a one-time enrollment incentive up to $10,000 per household when you enroll your new home battery in My Energy Optimizer Partner+ within 90 days of Permission to Operate (PTO). The incentive is $500 per kWh minus a 20% holdback, capped at $10,000. Eligible brands include Tesla, Enphase, SolarEdge, Franklin, Sonnen, and Eguana. To participate, your home must be on SMUD’s Solar & Storage Rate (SSR). If you’re adding a battery to an existing solar system, there’s no interconnection fee; new solar + battery projects do have a one-time interconnection fee.
Ongoing payments: At the moment, quarterly incentives are available only for Tesla Powerwall systems (roughly $110 for one battery, $220 for two, $330 for three+), and SMUD always leaves at least 20% reserve after any grid event so backup power is there when you need it. Other qualified manufacturers can enroll and receive the one-time incentive today. We’ll verify eligibility, get you enrolled on time, and handle the paperwork.
Be sure to read the full terms for more information and how to qualify.
Why whole-house batteries?
Batteries can provide power during an outage, save you money by using stored energy during peak times and lessens the demand on the electrical grid.
Do I need solar for a battery to work?
The Tesla Powerwall can power your home without using solar as it’s source.
Are there additional incentives?
You can apply the Federal Investment Tax Credit to your taxes. See if you qualify for the California SGIP Program.
Who can install the batteries for me?
We can! Your installation must follow electrical code and permitting requirements. When you hire Connected Technology we take care of everything for you!
